On a work PC, OneDrive gives you AutoSave, a 30-day restore and a backup of your Desktop. Turning it off removes all three, so check with us first if you're not sure.
- Just in the way? Pause it. Right-click the OneDrive icon > Pause syncing > 2, 8 or 24 hours. It resumes by itself.
- Let it finish. Before changing anything bigger, open the OneDrive icon and make sure nothing is still uploading.
- Keep files on the PC. Right-click the folders you work from > Always keep on this device. Wait for the green check marks.
- Stop the Desktop/Documents backup. OneDrive icon > Settings > Sync and backup > Manage backup, then turn off each folder. Read the next prompt carefully: one option empties the folder on your PC.
- Unlink completely (rarely needed). OneDrive icon > Settings > Account > Unlink this PC.
If the backup switch is greyed out, that's company policy keeping your files safe. Open a ticket instead.
