Work through these in order. The early checks fix most cases.
- Check webmail first. Sign in at outlook.office.com. If mail works there, the problem is on your PC. If webmail is broken too, contact us, because the issue is bigger than your computer.
- Start in safe mode. Close Outlook, press Windows + R, type
outlook /safeand press Enter. If Outlook works in safe mode, an add-in is the cause. - Turn off add-ins. File > Options > Add-ins > Manage: COM Add-ins > Go. Untick everything, restart Outlook, then turn them back on one at a time. The Teams Meeting add-in is the usual offender.
- Search finds nothing? Open Indexing Options from the Start menu, click Advanced, then Rebuild. It can take hours on a big mailbox, so start it at the end of the day.
- Layout or text size changed? View > Change View resets the message list. View > Zoom > Reset fixes huge text.
- Still broken? Settings > Installed apps > Microsoft 365 > Modify > Quick Repair.
